Our bodies change as we age. This includes the following anatomical and physiological changes:

  • Cardiovascular
  • Pulmonary central nervous system
  • Endocrine
  • Renal
  • Hepatic
  • Immune
  • Gastrointestinal
  • Other overall body systems

Common conditions causing pain for the aging elderly include arthritis, menopause, and low testosterone or male hypogonadism. Our pain care specialists at Pain Zero will assess how well a patient is engaged in daily life, discuss their role in their own pain management, and consider the least invasive way to address pain in Central Ohio patients.

Physiological changes cause such conditions as arthritis, menopause, or low testosterone, generating pain in muscles and joints. Effective non-pharmacological approaches to reduce pain include physical therapy and interventional behavioral therapy, as well as educating patients and caregivers about treatment options. Other treatments include non-opioid and opioid medications, pain-modulating drugs, topical agents, and other innovative therapies aimed at reducing pain and swelling in the joints.

Permanent treatments of arthritis pain include:

  • Radiofrequency Ablation
  • Kyphoplasty
  • Minimally invasive lumbar decompression (mild)

All treatments offer same day relief and walk out of the procedure area.

The injections that were performed on my back did the trick. I was pain free when I walked out of the office. It’s still early ( 5 hrs so far ) but my back feels good. The last injection I had was back in early November so almost 4 months of pain free relief, but started stiffening up in April so I got the injections and now feeling good, takes about 5 days to kick in . I have been seeing Dr Harris for about 3 years. When we did the lower back injections ( 4 discs ) with a large needle and after I got up off of the table I didn’t know how to act, it ( back ) felt great , still did things with caution but soon forgot about watching what I did. Was doing some hard labor ( laying and breaking up concrete ) but only felt some muscle aches but no back pains like I had. What a relief it was!! Dr Marcus Harris did what 5 back doctors couldn’t do the last 23 yrs. All those doctors did for me was to make me comfortable by giving me medication to treat my pain, Dr Harris treated the problem, my back and gave me months of relief, so glad he came into my life at a very difficult time.
